We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting, educating and improve the understanding and comprehensive management of Cross Lake and its watershed.
Annual consent to treat AIS "IF" found adjacent to your shoreline is underway!
DEADLINE: MARCH 31, 2024
See details below for more info!
A primary goal of the Cross Lake/Snake River Association (CLA) is to help manage the presence of AIS in our lake. The Association contracts an external company (Lake Management, Inc.) to administer the herbicide treatment necessary to manage the invasive weeds.
In order for CLA to obtain the necessary permits from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for the treatment to take place, we must obtain the property owners written consent if the treatment is to occur within 100 feet of the shoreline.
We are asking for your consent to treat the AIS IF found next to your property. While your support, as a member of the CLA, is invaluable to our existence, this AIS treatment would be at no cost to the property owner. Given the rate at which AIS can proliferate throughout a lake, it is important to manage it from a holistic point of view. We hope you will consider your consent for the benefit of the lake.
There is a detailed map on our website that shows exactly where AIS has been detected in Cross Lake. (This data was derived from the Aquatic Plant Management Survey completed in 2021. Read the details of the survey.)
It is important to note that the herbicide treatments described above, will only target Eurasian watermilfoil and Curly-leaf pondweed. These treatments WILL NOT eliminate ALL native plants on your shoreline.
We are excited to provide electronic signature capability via our website! It only takes a second to complete!
If your preference is to decline consent, we ask that you still complete the form showing your preference. This will help us ensure we have successfully reached all impacted property owners.
Given the critical timeline to treat Curly leaf-pondweed early in the season, we need your consent by March 31, 2024.
In 2023, the Cross Lake/Snake River Association contracted Limnopro Aquatic Science Inc., to create a Lake Management plan. This lake management plan will provide a beginning framework for managing Cross Lake in an attempt to optimize water quality, plant growth, and fishing conditions for recreation and to reserve pro
At the 2022 Fall Membership Meeting, the "Association" motioned to repurpose the legacy scholarship fund, due to unsustainability.
The motion was stated and approved by the membership as follows:
MOTION:
Repurpose monies currently in the Scholarship account to promote water safety & education to local youth.
THE GOAL: To foster healthy relationships with local water resources for youth in our area; in support of raising the next generation of responsible boaters and lake consumers.
As part of that effort, we are excited to share our partnership with City of Pine City to donate $500 towards the purchase of new life jackets for beach users and swimming lesson participants at the Pine City public beach.
This was an awesome opportunity to be part of and we look forward to other opportunities to partner with them in alignment with our Mission. Aren't those kiddos as cute as can be?!?!
THE CHALLENGE:
The Cross Lake / Snake River Association will send a $50 Amazon gift card to any local youth (18 & under) for successful completion of the MN DNR recommended boat & water safety education!
OUR GOAL:
To foster and encourage healthy relationships with water resources for youth in our area; in support of raising the next generation of responsible boaters and lake consumers.
REQUIREMENTS:
We hope you will encourage your children, grandchildren and visiting youth to complete the course!
Check out our "Wall of Fame" below of all the great kids who have successfully completed their boating safety certification!
E-mail us questions or with proof of completion at info@crosslakeassociation.org
